[WARNING] You Won’t Succeed In Business Unless You Comprehend THIS.

There are many, many things I help my clients with, be it empowering entrepreneurs and people in general, assessing and boosting business models, bringing new product ideas to the market, exporting businesses or retailing products abroad through my workable network of key business partnerships, innovating with disruptive selling processes, thinking and implementing digital marketing strategies, and so forth; indeed, BYI does not have a conventional business model but what I call a “One-To-One Business Model”. We start from the demand, i.e. from our clients’ needs, existing resources and goals to design our best performance-based services specifically for them.

Why? Because we are all unique, and so are our business needs. It’s foolish to pretend that you can just throw your clear-cut offers out there and expect people to buy for it without finding out what they need beforehand and designing the right solutions just for them. Sure, there are many mass markets on which the level of uncertainty is close to zero: selling something that’s part of people’s daily habits for example, like milk, cigarettes, bank accounts or even telecommunications. The needs will still be there, waiting for being fulfilled every day.

Jackpot, you think? Well, if I’m being intolerant to lactose like 30 to 50 million American adults, you still need to produce a specific milk for me. If I quit smoking, you’re screwed. If I invest my money in businesses, properties, bonds, mutual funds or hide it under my bed like Grandma while balancing my bank accounts to minimum so you can’t charge any fee on them, you won’t make money on me. No laws require me to buy your credit or debit cards either. Oh, and why the hell would I waste my time coming to your offices to be advised on how to manage and invest my money by your “account manager-bank advisor-whateveryoucallthem” when they are NOT billionaires themselves? Hum… If I decide to cut off from the rest of the world for a ten year retreat in Tibet, I won’t need your phone or Internet subscription anymore. So what will you do for me? How will you adapt your offers to my new specific needs? If your old sales channels don’t match my new consumer behavior, you won’t catch me. I won’t even hear of you. I may have already bought from you in the past, but if you don’t evolve with me, I don’t need you anymore. Harsh!

But still, Grandma won’t buy her clothes online. She still enjoys reading your big fat heavy brochures and ordering from it on rainy Sundays, or going to the local shopping mall to get Grandpa’s favorite pants – you know, those that don’t itch his bum. You won’t catch her with Google Ads and a landing page either, nor will she manage her bank accounts on the Internet (Hello online banks and insurance companies!)

Now, let’s get serious – although I could make fun out of so many notorious businesses out there! (NB : If you want me to write a post on that, send me an email and I will). There are two ways to address the fact that most entrepreneurs can’t afford your services. Either you can decide to reposition your offer to target big corps instead, or you can partner with your clients based on your performance – providing you trust yourself enough to do so; and that’s exactly how at BYI we actually support many entrepreneurs to get off the ground by helping them make profits first so they can afford to pay for our services then – and succeed down the road.

We are all unique and so your offers should be. People don’t buy services or products; they buy values that resonate specifically with them. Same in relationships. Or a friend.
